Bonham Galland (1833-1915) won election to the Nevada Legislature in 1882.

After his legislative term, he left Nevada for San Francisco and, in 1893, married Bavarian-born Caroline Rosenberg Kline, widow of wealthy Seattle clothing retailer and real estate magnate Lazarus Kline, who had left her a sizable estate.

Mrs. Kline died in 1907, bequeathing her $1,000,000 estate to Galland to build a Jewish old age home in Seattle.

Galland faithfully dedicated the last eight years of his life to fulfilling her bequest.

Today, the institution, now called the Caroline Kline Galland House, provides services to the aged of all faiths.
